Update 4 Live: New Articles, E-Books and Links to Oxford Art Online

The fourth update of the year brings a host of new content and functionality:

NEW CONTENT

 
NEW FUNCTIONALITY

  • Direct linking through to third-party hosted journal content using an OpenURL resolver
  • Activation of external links to Oxford Art Online for subscribers on SAMS as “Grove Art” (as well as “Oxford Art Online”)
  • Internal links from V&A images to articles on individual designers in the A to Z of Fashion

BFL Highly Commended at ALPSP Awards

The Berg Fashion Library has been awarded with an ALPSP (Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers) Highly Commended Certificate for Publishing Innovation 2011. The Winner was announced at the 2011 ALPSP International Conference at Heythrop Park, near Oxford, UK from 14-16 September.

Update 3 Live: Met Images; New Articles; Lesson Plans and More

Now Live! More content including images from the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Berg has partnered with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to bring 2000+ images from the internationally renowned Costume Institute’s collection to be available through the Berg Fashion Library. 500 images are now live on the site.

New this month:

  • Seven new articles for the Online Exclusives section of the Berg Encyclopedia of World Dress and Fashion

  • 500 images from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY. This is the first of four groups of images from the Met

  • Lesson Plans with links through to online content

  • Several hundred links to Oxford Art Online

The Berg Fashion Library has been shortlisted for the for the ALPSP (Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers) Award for Publishing Innovation 2011. The Winner will be announced at the 2011 ALPSP International Conference at Heythrop Park, near Oxford, UK from 14-16 September.

The newly added Classic and Modern Writings on Fashion are 67 seminal pieces which together form the foundations of fashion theory and methodology. Update 1 Live! New Images and Journal Links

Multi-award winner Berg Fashion Library is updating with fantastic new content!

The first update to the Berg Fashion Library is now live and includes:

New Images:

  • 600 images from MoMu Fashion Museum, Belgium
  • 230 sample images from collections including the London College of Fashion and The Museum at FIT

Journal Links:

The Berg Fashion Library now includes links to Berg journal articles. This enables subscribers of both products to seamlessly jump to journal content from Berg Fashion Library.

Another Win for Berg Fashion Library! Bookseller FutureBook Award for Best Website

The Berg Fashion Library has won its fourth award in as many months!

It won The Bookseller's FutureBook Digital Innovation Award for Best Website 2011, as announced in a ceremony in Central London on 17 March.

From The Bookseller:

Berg Fashion Library was praised for being both well-executed and having a clear business strategy behind it. Kate Wilson, NosyCrow founder, commented: "A beautifully presented website that was distinctive from the other websites, which were marketing tools, by being an established business in itself". Jo Naylor, general manager, digital content sales at John Wiley, said Berg was "an incredibly ambitious project in terms of output and business model, with a highly successful and beautifully produced result".

This award is just the latest in a series of acclaim bestowed on the Berg Fashion Library and Berg Encyclopedia of Word Dress and Fashion, which have won:

  • 2011 Dartmouth Medal (awarded to print and online)
  • ALA Outstanding Reference Source (awarded to print and online)
  • Independent Publishers Guild Frankfurt Book Fair Digital Award

Berg Fashion Library Wins IPG Digital Award!

The Independent Publishers Guild has awarded Berg the Frankfurt Book Fair Digital Award for the Berg Fashion Library.

From the IPG:

Berg Publishers has secured its second success in this category, having won its previous incarnation—the E-Publishing Award—in 2008. It triumphed this time for the successful launch of the Berg Fashion Library, which was hailed by the judges for its ambition and for better-than-forecast sales figures. “This is an amazing project that has been carefully developed and beautifully executed,” they said. “It will be used for a very long time in its market.” Judges also hailed the breadth of digital innovation on display from independents in this category.
